Extra Curricila Activities: HotOS-VIII

This site is still under construction.

The famous Resorthotel Schloss Elmau resides in a magical alpine valley, at the foot of an impressive mountain range, about 100 km south of the Bavarian Capital Munich near Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany and about 40 km northern of Innsbruck in Austraia.
Extensive sporting opportunities at Elmau include walking and hiking on long trails in virgin nature to lonely peaks, lakes and alpine valleys with breathtaking views, swimming (indoor & outdoor pools and nearby lakes), tennis (clay), horseback riding (indoor & outdoor), boccia,

volleyball, basketball, soccer, hockey, golf (several superb 18 hole courses in the vicinity), mountainbiking, white water rafting, guided mountain hikes and tours.

Daily programms for adults and children are offered.

There are really nice walkings around the hotel. You may either walk to the very near Elmauer Alm (about 0.5 h), or to the lake Ferchensee (about 1 h) from where you can walk/climb up to the Wetterspitze (height 2297 m).
Or you may walk to the lovely town Mittenwald (about 3 h) famous for its violin makers.
There is even a museum dedicated to the art of making violins. The hotel organizes carriage trips from and to Mittenwald. In Mittenwald you can take the famous cable-railway Karwendelbahn leading up to the Karwendelmassiv (about 2244 m). From there you can start some very interesting mountain walking tours, at least you have a brilliant view.
Or you may pay a visit at Schloss Kranzbach on your walk to Klais (about 1 h). In any case, be a bit cautious, the weather in that region is quite unpredictable.

You can also reach the two famous castles of the legendary Bavarian King Ludwig II
Schloss Neuschwanstein and Schloss Hohenschwangau within about 1.5 h by car.
